매년 여름 시카고의 합창단들이 한 무대에 섭니다. 2026년 제25회에는 500여 명이 함께했고, 수익은 천국열쇠 교도소선교회에 전해졌습니다. Every summer Chicago choirs share one stage. The 25th festival in 2026 drew 500 people; proceeds went to Key to Heaven Prison Ministry.

“2015년 10월, 시카고장로성가단의 찬양은 중독에서 회복 중인 형제들과 출소자, 노숙인, 미국에서 추방되어 온 형제들에게 큰 은혜와 감동이 되었습니다. 장로님들과 권사님들은 따뜻하게 손 잡아 주고 안아 주며 눈물로 기도해 주셨습니다. 2015년, 2018년, 2022년 매번 일주일 넘게 함께 먹고 자고 찬양하던 시간은 너무나 귀했습니다.”“In October 2015 the Chicago Elders Choir’s singing moved our brothers in recovery from addiction, former prisoners, the homeless, and men deported from the United States. The elders and deaconesses took their hands, embraced them and prayed with tears. In 2015, 2018 and 2022 they stayed more than a week each time, eating, sleeping and singing with us. Those days were precious.”

With the translators, we are completing the review of thirteen books of the Bible. We discuss verse by verse, and they welcome every change that makes the translation more accurate and natural. Galatians through Hebrews, then Romans and Corinthians, are still ahead. Please keep praying for the final translation and checking.”

정관Constitution and bylaws

장로선교회 주소록에 실린 정관(2014년 총회부터 시행)입니다. 2023년 1월 선교회와 성가단 임원 단일화에 따른 개정 내용은 반영 전입니다.As printed in the elders’ directory, in force from the 2014 general assembly. The January 2023 amendment is not yet reflected. English is an unofficial translation.

제1–4조 명칭·사무소·모범·목적Art. 1–4 Name, office, standards, purpose

제1조(명칭) 본 회는 미주 한인 장로 선교회(Korean Elders Mission of America, KEMA)(이하 선교회)라 칭한다.Art. 1 (Name) This body is named Korean Elders Mission of America (KEMA), hereafter “the Mission”.

제2조(사무소) 본 회의 사무소는 일리노이주 내에 둔다.Art. 2 (Office) The Mission’s office is located in the State of Illinois.

제3조(모범) 본 회는 1) 삼위일체(성부, 성자, 성령) 하나님을 믿는다. 2) 신구약 성경은 하나님의 정확무오한 말씀임을 믿는다. 3) 웨스트민스터 신앙고백서와 대소요리문답을 우리의 교리적 표준으로 인정하고 지킨다.Art. 3 (Standards) 1) We believe in the triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. 2) We believe the Old and New Testaments are the inerrant Word of God. 3) We hold the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms as our doctrinal standard.

제4조(목적) 본 회는 “만민에게 복음을 전파하라”는 주님의 명령을 준수하며, 말씀을 연구하고 가르치며, 건강한 교회를 세우는 일에 협력함을 그 목적으로 한다.Art. 4 (Purpose) To keep the Lord’s command to “preach the gospel to all creation”, to study and teach the Word, and to work together in building healthy churches.

제5–6조 회원, 권리와 의무Art. 5–6 Membership, rights and duties

제5조(회원) 본 회 회원은 장로로 장립(안수) 받은 자가 본회의 목적에 찬동하고 입회를 희망하는 자로 한다.Art. 5 (Members) Members are ordained elders who agree with the Mission’s purpose and wish to join.

제6조(권리와 의무) 본 회 회원은 1) 동등한 선거권과 피선거권이 있으며, 2) 회의 정관과 각종 의결사항을 준수하며, 3) 재정확보에 협조할 의무가 있다.Art. 6 (Rights and duties) Members 1) have equal rights to vote and stand for office, 2) keep the bylaws and all resolutions, and 3) share in supporting the Mission’s finances.

제7–8조 임원과 임기Art. 7–8 Officers and terms

제7조(임원과 임무) 본 회의 임원과 임무는 다음과 같다.Art. 7 (Officers and duties)

1. 회장(1인): 총회에서 부회장을 회장으로 추대하며, 본회를 대표하고 회무를 총괄한다.1. President (1): the vice president is installed as president at the general assembly; represents the Mission and oversees its work.

2. 부회장(1인): 총회에서 재적회원 2/3 이상의 득표로 선출하며, 회장 유고시 이를 대리하고, 결격 사유가 없는 한 차기 회장으로 추대된다.2. Vice president (1): elected by two-thirds of enrolled members; acts for the president when needed and, barring disqualification, becomes the next president.

3. 총무(1인): 서기, 회계와 협력하며 행정을 관장한다.3. General secretary (1): runs administration with the clerk and treasurer.

4. 서기(1인): 사무 일체를 기록 및 보관한다.4. Clerk (1): keeps all records.

5. 회계(1인): 재정에 관한 회계 업무를 담당한다.5. Treasurer (1): keeps the accounts.

6. 감사(2인): 1년에 1차례 재정에 관한 일체를 감사하며 총회에 보고한다.6. Auditors (2): audit the finances once a year and report to the general assembly.

제8조(임원의 임기) 본 회 임원의 임기는 2년으로 한다.Art. 8 (Terms) Officers serve two-year terms.

제9–10조 부서와 성가단Art. 9–10 Departments and choir

제9조(부서) 본 회는 효과적인 활동을 위하여 다음의 부서를 둔다.Art. 9 (Departments)

1. 선교부: 국내외 선교 및 전도 업무를 기획하고 추진한다.1. Mission: plans and carries out mission and evangelism at home and abroad.

2. 음악부: 성가단을 총괄 감독한다.2. Music: oversees the choir.

3. 대외부: 대외활동 및 회원 상호간의 친목을 위한 사업을 추진한다.3. External affairs: outside activities and fellowship among members.

4. 홍보부: 회지 “갈릴리 사람들”을 발행하며 홍보를 담당한다.4. Communications: publishes the newsletter “People of Galilee”.

제10조(성가단) 본 회는 특별 부서로 성가단을 두며 운영 세칙은 따로 정한다.Art. 10 (Choir) The Mission keeps a choir as a special department, under separate rules.

제11–12조 회의와 정족수Art. 11–12 Meetings and quorum

제11조(회의) 본 회 회의는 정기총회, 임시총회, 임원회로 구분한다.Art. 11 (Meetings)

1. 정기총회: 매년 1월 회장이 소집하며, 신년하례, 임원선거, 예결산 심의, 사업계획 수립, 정관개정, 기타 업무를 처리한다.1. Regular general assembly: called by the president every January for the New Year service, elections, budget and accounts, plans, bylaw amendments and other business.

2. 임시총회: 필요시 임원회의 결의로 회장이 소집한다.2. Special general assembly: called by the president on a resolution of the officers.

3. 임원회: 필요시 회장이 소집하며(성가단 포함), 총회 위임사항과 사업을 계획하고 추진한다.3. Officers’ meeting (choir included): called by the president as needed to carry out what the assembly delegates.

제12조(정족수) 1) 정기총회, 임시총회는 출석회원으로 개회하며, 임원회는 2/3 이상의 출석으로 한다. 2) 임원 선출은 재적회원 2/3 이상으로 하며, 일반적 의결 사항은 과반수 이상으로 한다.Art. 12 (Quorum) 1) General assemblies open with the members present; officers’ meetings need two-thirds attendance. 2) Officers are elected by two-thirds of enrolled members; other matters pass by majority.

제13–14조 재정과 부록Art. 13–14 Finance and final provisions

제13조(재정) 본 회 재정은 월회비, 각종 헌금, 기타 수입으로 한다(월 회비와 지출은 임원회의 결의로 한다).Art. 13 (Finance) Monthly dues, offerings and other income; dues and spending are set by the officers.

제14조(부록) 1) 본 정관에 미비한 점은 일반 관례에 준한다. 2) 본 정관은 2014년도 총회 개회로부터 시행한다(단, 2018년도는 현 단장은 금번까지 하고, 부회장만 선출한다).Art. 14 (Final provisions) 1) Matters not covered follow general custom. 2) In force from the 2014 general assembly (in 2018, the current choir director serves out the term and only a vice president is elected).

주소록Directory

선교회는 1991년 장로 320명의 주소록을 시작으로, 2017년에는 720여 명의 장로 명단을 담은 주소록을 발간했습니다.The mission has published elders’ directories since 1991: 320 elders then, more than 720 in 2017.
